I received an XS40-010XL version 1.1 board about 1 month ago. However, they did not supply me with a DC converter -- thus, I used a 9V DC converter that I had handy. However, this DC converter has a center-negative connection. I found this out only after running one test. After I found out, I changed it to be center-positive by clipping and re-connecting the connecting wire. However, it still does not work. The LED lights up initially. Then, when I run "XSTEST XS040-010XL", the LED goes blank and does not come back on. Would one of the chips be damaged by a reverse battery connection? Is there a simple fix that I can try?
The problem could be in any of the major chips: XC4010XL, 32K SRAM, or 8031 microcontroller. The only way to tell is to replace these chips and try again.
