Q:

My new XS board will not pass XS test. I have verified all the correct connections. However, I don't know if my parallel port is configured correctly for SPP mode.

A:

Please submit the form at http://www.xess.com/help.html so we can get more information about your system.

In the meantime, look at the README.TXT file that should be in your XSTOOLS folder. Also, check the following:

  1. Are you using a power supply with a center-positive plug? (It's a good sign if the LED segments glow dimmly.)
  2. Have you configured your parallel port for SPP in the BIOS?
  3. Have you tried LPT1, LPT2, and LPT3?
  4. Do you see any activity on the LED segments during the test procedure?
  5. If you have a logic probe or scope, can you see any activity on pin 14 and 17 of the parallel port during the testing procedure?
