Maximum allowable power supply current rating for the XS40, XS95 and XSA Boards

Q:

I had a question on the XS Board. In the manual it says that the board requires a 9VDC power Supply with greater than or equal to 500 ma.

Will the board work with a 9V 800 ma power supply? Is there a chance that this will burn a board?

A:

No. The XS Board will draw only the current that it needs. The 800 mA rating on your power supply refers to the maximum current the supply can deliver without exceeding a certain amount of ripple in the supply voltage.
